Eligibility criteria

To open a Pepperstone Pro account, you'll need to meet one of the following criteria.

Sophisticated Investor 1

  • Show you have traded leveraged FX or CFDs at least 20 times per quarter, over a minimum of 4 quarters in the preceding 2 years, with a notional value of AUD$50,000 per quarter or more.
  • And demonstrate your knowledge as a sophisticated investor by completing our short, online Knowledge Quiz.

Sophisticated Investor 2

  • Show you have worked in a professional position that directly involved trading in margin FX or CFDs in the financial sector for at least one year.
  • And demonstrate your knowledge as a sophisticated investor by completing our short, online Knowledge Quiz.

Wealth Application

  • Demonstrate through a qualified accountant that you have minimum net assets of AUD$2.5 million.
  • Or a minimum gross income of AUD$250,000 for each of the last two years.

To check your eligibility:

1. Log into your secure client area.

2. Click on Pepperstone Pro in the top left of the screen.

3. Select whether you're a Sophisticated Investor or a Wealth Applicant, and follow the instructions.

What Protections Do Pro Traders Lose?

As a Pepperstone Pro trader, the following protections won't apply to you:

  • Lower leverage
  • Compulsory margin close-out at 50%
  • Retail negative balance protection
  • Retail disclosure information

Additional points to note: We will still make our Internal Dispute Resolution service available to you, at no cost. You can still access the external dispute resolution provider Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), however you may be treated differently given your status as an experienced wholesale investor and your matter may be excluded at AFCA’s discretion. There’s no requirement to issue you a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), Financial Services Guide (FSG), and disclosures, however these are available on our website for you to review. We may assume a level of knowledge and experience when assessing whether our products are appropriate for you.

**We calculate the Volume-based Discount as a percentage of our commission or spread, based on the volume of trades that you make. Trading Volume rebate example:

If your total FX volume traded in a month is 500 lots, this falls under Tier 2. Tier 2 receives $2 per lot of FX, 20% spread reduction for Indices & Commodities* even if your trading volume does not meet the minimum requirement of the other two asset classes
